Patient Review 1:

I had the misfortune of cracking my two front teeth and ended up at Dr. Horne's office after another dentist did a poor job of bonding my teeth. Not only were they able to fit me in on short notice, but when I was unable to take a call during a meeting they texted me to let me know they had had a cancellation and could fit me in sooner. The level of professionalism is outstanding, the office is state of the art, the staff are friendly and helpful. It's been quite a process getting my two front teeth to stay put, but I couldn't have had a better dentist. When I found out my insurance wouldn't cover Dr. Horne, I called around town but was confronted by a lack of room to get me in and staff that were less willing to accommodate me. Dr. Horne and his staff do and excellent job and it is definitely worth paying the extra money. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I am a new patient of Dr. Horne's. After going for a check up and cleaning and a broken crown, I visited the office three times within one month. Having a crown rebuilt is not fun, but Dr. Horne's demeanor, skill, and kindness made it smooth sailing. And, the entire staff are welcoming and professional.

I just get a comfortable feeling there and will recommend friends to him. A great dentist!

It is very hard to find a good dentist today I think. You need to find someone with a warm, patient demeanor, that treats each patient like they are important, does quality work and doesn't destroy your wallet.

I just had about a months worth of visits in a row with pretty extensive fillings/cosmetic work, whitening and I have to tell you I am really happy.

After a minor misunderstanding, Dr. Horne called me personally to clear things up and when I am there I am treated like a king (not that I expect prima donna treatment but it's nice to get!).

Everyone is very nice and he is a PAIN FREE dentist. No bs.

NO PAIN. This guy has made me not fear the dentist!

I am very picky about my dentist, so when I moved to Austin three years ago, I did a lot of research before finally choosing Dr. Horne. He and his staff are amazing. Everyone in that office is so friendly, and punctual. They have never made me wait to be treated, even those times when I have been late to an appointment. He is thorough in his work, and doesn't sacrifice cosmetic quality. You will leave his office feeling great and looking great!

A few other perks...you get to watch TV while you are being worked on, and they have a fridge stocked full of yummy drinks to grab on your way out.

Dr. Horne is fantastic. So gentle that I've had two cavities filled with (at my request) no numbing agent whatsoever- zero pain during and after. He is very attentive and listens to questions and concerns without making you ever feel rushed. All of the staff are also great about remembering their patients- you won't ever feel like a stranger to Dr. Horne, Mia, or any of the hygienists which makes it a really welcoming environment. I have referred all of my friends and family with no hesitation.

About Hygienist: Each of the 4 hygienists I've had over the course of cleanings and fillings have been great. Very thorough and friendly... and they don't ask you open-ended questions when you have your mouth wide open and can't speak! :)

When I went to Dr. Horne initially, I had already been to two dentists who did a terrible job. I was so nervous. Before the exam, Dr. Horne took the time to meet with me in his personal office to discuss my dental issues. After listening to my dental history, Dr. Horne gave me his strategy for how to give me a perfect smile. However - and this wasn't cheap - he insisted that he give me a full dental exam prior to beginning any work.

I am terrified of dentists. I had not had a full-on dental exam in several years. Knowing this, Dr. Horne was very kind and was not judgmental of my lack of attendance to a dentist's office.

There is still much more work to do, but Dr. Horne has already given me a movie star smile. Everyone compliments my teeth and the lovely, white smile. He understood that after fixing major problems, I really needed the treat of whitening my smile and getting new veneers.

He's a kind person and very down to earth. Now, I take my young son to see him. In fact, Dr. Horne's bedside manner is so good my best friend is a regular patient of his, too! If you need a good dentist who won't rip you off and who will truly care about your health, this is the man!

I went in for a routine cleaning after 8 years of being unable to afford it due to insurance issues. Although Dr. Horne is a stocky guy, he has the most gentle touch I've ever experienced. He decided the best thing for me was to have a deep scaling/root planing procedure done and those were totally painless. The office staff is all very nice and they will make you laugh and keep you relaxed through the entire visit. Dr. Horne and his assistants are the same way. Even though I experienced my first 'real' dental work and my first anesthetic, I didn't feel a thing and it was all over very quickly. I would recommend Dr. Horne to anyone who is looking for a dentist, especially those who have been avoiding it or are afraid, like I was.

About Hygienist: I saw Rebekah and Andrea (I think...I can't remember her name) for the two sides of my deep cleaning and Rebekah for my initial exam. They were both super sweet and knowledgeable, explaining what they were doing and how it would feel. They take extra care to be gentle and this is the best cleaning I have ever had. I keep showing everyone at work how much whiter my teeth are, just from the cleaning. I also dealt with Mia at the front desk and she explained every step of the filling procedure since it was my first. I hate hate HATE going to the dentist and yet I love this office and these people.

I recently went to the dentist to check out my tooth which has been hurting me for the past 3 mos. I have feared going to the dentist and haven't been able to afford it either. They work w/you to pay the fees. Also they give you something to relax and their professional yet care free attitude puts you right at ease. I love it and now have my entire family going there. A little far from where I live but besides that a great dentist/dental office.

I hadn't been to the dentist in 1-2 years and was worried that I had a mouth of disaster. Well, I ended up with three deep cavities under old, cracked fillings. But from the exam and the cleaning date through my two follow-up appointments (cavities on each side of the mouth, so required two subsequent visits) for the three fillings, Dr. Horne's hospitable staff worked to fit me in so I could get the work done in under a week! It speaks volumes when I can honestly say the worst part about the dental exam, the cleaning, and the three fillings was that at one point during a filling I had to wait in "agony" a minute or so to scratch my head and relieve one of those itches that you can't help but to fixate upon!

The only reason the cost has a rating of "moderate" and not higher is b/c this website won't let me submit a review that simultaneously labels the facilities as "like a health spa" and the cost as "extremely cheap." My insurance covered most of the work. I paid about 110 dollars for all services. Not bad at all.

In no way would I hesitate to recommend this office. They run a first-class operation here.

I have had bad experiences with dentists in the past. Dr. Horne and his staff (Andrea was my Hygienist, she was fantastic) put all my fears to rest. I had as good of a time as one can have at the dentist office. Thanks and keep it up!

Dr. Horne and his staff are the best you can find. These people are professional, friendly, caring, upbeat and highly skilled. I have never had a bad dentist in my life (lucky, I know!) but no one even compares to Dr. Horne. His care and communication skills are fantastic! He listens and responds to your every concern. My husband and I recommend Dr. Horne to everyone we know and would never have a reason to see anyone else with our dental care. I have had a root canal and a crown replaced. Trust me---there is no one better in all of Austin and quite possibly all of Texas!

Mention dentist, I'd be running like an Olympic gold medalist. That is how bad my fear is to any dental procedure even dental for x-ray!

The first visit was the initial x-ray and treatment plan consultation in which everything was performed with great care and professionalism. My second visit involved some work and again Dr. Horne and his staff, knowing my phobia took extra care to make sure that my visit was nothing but a good one. Dr. Horne posses great chair side manner and this is also true with the dental hygienist, Andrea, who took care of me as well. I was completely at ease mainly because of the friendly family like environment. They took care of everything from the actual dental work down to my insurance paperwork all accompanied by the outstanding friendly staff.

I left Dr. Horne's office in complete awe of the level of professionalism and performance. It was the perfect dental visit that I used to wish and dream about. With that said I am very appreciative of their support and care and highly recommends Dr. Matthew Horne's office for your next anxiety free dental visit. Trust me its worth it and it doesn't get any better than this!

I had a two year problem with pressure, hot & cold sensitivity on the right side of my mouth. I'd been to three dentists who were unable to diagnose to probem, and was eventually told to see a jaw specialist.

Instead I saw Dr. Horne, and in one visit he assessed my problem to be something very simple, and was able to fix my teeth. I can't believe after two years of chronic pain, it was solved so simply and quickly. The cost is expensive, but comparable to other dentists I've seen in the past. Plus it's worth it to FINALLY be pain free. I would recommend him to anyone!

I had another dentist's veneer chip on me in my sleep. I called Dr. Horne's office and they got me in within an hour! I was a bit skeptical about relying on these reviews, but it turned out for the best. Dr. Horne is an excellent dentist. He takes extreme care in what he does. Results were great (looks as good as new). The facilities were nice as was the staff. I will be returning soon to get a night guard. Thanks Dr. Horne!

Dr. Horne is a phenomenal dentist. I started with multiple old and leaky fillings, 25 year old crowns, and 20 year old veneers.

My old veneers were yellow, cracked, and my gums were pulling away. Dr. Horne took on the laborious task of removing the old veneers and actually reshaping the canines so that they were not so prominent. He was concerned that I get EXACTLY the look I wanted and not a cookie cutter obvious smile. I had the eight front top teeth redone. Due to tetracycline staining I could not go white-white. Dr. Horne patiently worked at getting me the whitest shade that still looked natural with my bottom teeth. I am ecstatic with his work!

I had many old, leaky, metal fillings. Dr. Horne suggested a filling implant for one large cavity which turned out very well. I've had to get two new crowns as well as two old crowns replaced. He listened to my concerns about metal and gave me completely non-metal crowns which look fabulous and natural.

In all my visits, Dr. Horne made sure that I was comfortable and experienced absolutely no pain.

Costs were very reasonable especially considering the high-end procedures. Scheduling and insurance are handled in office and the staff are great!

Highly recommended!

I made an appointment with Dr. Horne after reading his reviews on doctoroogle.com. I was not in pain when I made the appointment but I still wanted to come in that week because I was on vacation and Mia scheduled me in the same day. I knew I needed a root canal and his diagnosis confirmed that. They were very up front about what was needed and Mia went over all the associated costs before they did any work. The procedure itself was awesome! I had two root canals previously and another clinic-type dental office where there are multiple dentists each working on multiple patients at the same time and their root canals are not even in the same class as Dr. Horne's! When Dr. Horne was performing the root canal I knew he was doing a very thorough job because I had experienced the two previously that I suspected were poor after each crown had fallen off once within two years of the work. He even used a nice rubber shield contraption so that none of the drilled tooth/cavity would go flying through my mouth that the other place didn't even mention was an option to use. I had no pain after the first half of the work was done and only some minor soreness a couple weeks later when the rest of the work was done. Go see Dr. Horne!

I was referred to Dr. Horne initially by my Chiropractor. I then referred to him to my spouse. I recently went to my first appointment with Dr. Horne and Staff and was not dissapointed in the least! Mia, Renee and Dr. Horne took care of me to the extent that I felt like they were my friends. For the first time I did not feel like I was a number in the system. Dr. Horne is not only a good dentist but has great chair-side manner. He is very thorough in his explanation of what he is going to do and even makes personal phone calls to follow up after procedures. The work was completed easily and was painless. Dr. Horne and his whole office have found a way to make going to the dentist enjoyable! I just had a root canal completed in their office and felt completely confident that I was in good hands throughout the whole procedure. They think of all the little things that make a big difference in your comfort... friendly faces, gentleness, blankets if you get cold, great smelling office, and compassion. Dr. Horne and his staff truly made my visit to their office fantastic!! I don't consider myself the best patient and they put me at ease. I had a really old crown that needed to be repaired and as he worked I didn't feel a thing. Not only that but even his temporary crown looks fantastic! He has a great way with people, and so does the rest of his staff. Normally, I dreaded going to the dentist, but because of the care I received at Dr. Horne's office, I am actually looking forward to my next dental visit. I am someone with what has been diagnosed as "severe" sleep apnea. For four months I tried to get used to the CPAP machine. It remained a struggle and many nights I would sit up in a chair, rather than go to bed and have to use the "dreaded contraption."

My daughter saw a brochure about the TAP device for sleep apnea in Dr. Horne's office and recommended that I look into it.

I was hopeful that it would be a solution for me.

Dr. Horne kindly made two appointments for me.

The first appointment he made the molds and only three days later he fitted my mouthpieces, honing down any tight places.

I have used the TAP every night and happily found that it DOES NOT IN ANY WAY INTERFERE WITH MY SLEEP. I awaken rested and remain alert and awake all day into the evening. I have even started losing weight - almost impossible without treating the apnea.

I cannot say enough good about Dr. Horne and his staff. They were wonderful in their care and the TAP is litterally saving my life.

If you have sleep apnea I enthusiastically recommend you call Dr. Horne and look into the TAP.

Dr. Horne and his staff are WONDERFUL!! I actually enjoy my dental experience with him as my dentist. They make a point to make your visit personal, from knowing you by name when you walk in the door to making a follow up phone call the evening of your visit to make sure everything is ok. Also, Dr. Horne recommended a mouth guard for me that has saved me from 4 years of suffering from headaches. I had seen numbers of Dr's that could never help and he did in one visit. THANK YOU!!!

I have always hated going to the dentist until I went to see Dr. Horne. The atmosphere of the office is so relaxing and the staff is so warm and friendly. Dr. Horne is the only dentist I have ever seen who took the time to talk to me about my dental history and ask me what bothered me about my teeth--no dentist has ever asked me that!! I was able to tell him everything I would want to do and then we came up with a treatment plan that we both were comfortable with--one that was going to make my mouth the healthiest it could be, one that would improve my smile, and one that was cost effective for me. Everything was state-of-the-art in his office. Dr. Horne is on the cutting edge of recent technological advances in dentistry and I received top notch treatment. I was very impressed with Dr. Horne and his staff during my first initial visit. The office had a warm feeling to it and the staff was very friendly. Dr. Horne has been very good and very careful with every procedure he has done for me. He totally explained all the options on any procedure needed. Because he is very patient and careful I have also taken my mother in law to him. She is in her 80's and really likes him and the care he gives her. At her age she wants to keep the teeth she has and he has been helpful in that process. She will go to no one else. I am about to complete Invisalign treatment and I am very pleased with Dr. Horne's fastidious care of this process. I think the most important thing about Dr. Horne is his honesty with my dental care and his awareness of the cost of any procedure. I must also say his assistant, Mia, is the best. She helps to create a caring atmosphere. "Care" is the key word in Dr. Horne's dental practice.

Dr. Horne took exceptional care of me during my last visit. I have never had a dentist that communicates so thoroughly with me on the details of my exam. Dr. Horne went above and beyond my expectations by taking care of some cosmetic work that made my smile look exceptional. Between the free teeth whitening and the precise cosmetic work, my teeth look and feel better than they have in years. His office is state-of-the art and his his staff is very courteous and professional. This dentist is totally awesome! I was having a crown put back in after losing it. I called his office and they made me feel that my dental problem was priority to them and they scheduled me that same day! I have had many dentist and this one is the best. His staff is very attentative and happy. I really enjoyed the great customer service with a smile received from his staff and the dentist chair side manners. Dr. Horne was very kind and explained my options to me without trying to break me. I was really treated well and I truly recommend this denist to anyone.

Dr. Horne is an excellent Dentist. He takes his time to explain everyhting he is doing should you have questions about particular procedures. On top of that, his staff is first class, and is always there to greet you with a smile and help in any way possible. I highly recommend Dr. Horne and his staff, they are first class!!!!!

I am so happy that I found Dr. Horne, he is the best! I actually live in Dallas so I have to drive to Austin to get my teeth cleaned. I have never had another Dentist that has been so gentle on my teeth. He is also so friendly and is very flexible with working me in. He definitly puts his patients first! I recomend him to anyone! Hands down the best dentist in Austin (or anywhere for that matter). He is a perfectionist so you will never walk out of there until you are perfect! He pays attention to detail and is very gentle. I have only had cleanings from him because that is all my teeth have required but my mother-in-law has had a lot of work done by him and she can't stop raving about how marvelous he is and how fantastic his work is. She tells everyone about "her wonderful new dentist". She will never go to anyone else now that she has found Dr. Horne, and neither will I. I don't usually take the time to write reviews on people but his work warrants it.

I've visited dentists as an adult now for over 20 years, and Dr. Horne is the only one that actually works on you and with you, conducting a thorough exam and personally advising you of your dental care options in a very comfortable and compassionate style, helping you identify a treatment program that best suits your needs and pocketbook. Dr. Horne has been taking care of my familys dental needs for many years. He has stood out above any other dentist that I have gone to from New York to California. His bedside manner puts you right at ease and he is extremely gentle, and pain conscious. He takes the time to talk with you about how to care for your teeth and what he can do to help get your mouth in the best possible shape. I really appreciate how Dr. Horne will call me the day after treatment to make sure everything is ok. This shows how much he cares for his patients! He knows my family well and takes the time to be personable. I highly recommend Dr. Horne to anyone who is looking for an honest and caring Dr. to take care of their needs.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Horne and his assistant, Mia! I don't know where to begin because ever since he has opened his practice, they have been there for all my dental needs - and until recently I didn't know I had any! He has state of the art equipment which allows you to see what is going on inside your mouth - after seeing this I was convinced to floss every day. He also has taken care of fillings, crowns, shaving my teeth to give me a better smile, and even treating an ulcer in my mouth (I'm probably forgetting something!). On two occasions, they were available for emergency situations. In addition to all that, I get free bleaching trays! I have never liked going to the dentist in my life - now I don't mind at all because I know I'll be taken care of!!

From the time you make your appointment to the time you leave after completing your treatment you feel at ease. Dr. Horne and his extremely knowledgeable and courteous staff make your comfort their #1 priority. Dr. Horne took me through every step of the way form the first consultation to the comprehensive "plan" and I even got a letter to let me know that we had completed all the work he reccomended!!! He was there every step of the way making sure I was comfortable and understood all that was going on. He wanted me to know why he made reccomendations and that was very nice. I'll be honest...I don't have the high level of anxiety that I used to have when I go to the dentist now.

I highly reccommend this dentist office...I even got a FREE teeth whitening kit!!! Can't beat that!

Dr. Horne is an angel. He has the perfect combination of what I want in a dentist - he is incredibly skilled and has such wonderful interpersonal skills that a visit feels like you've just spent an hour catching up with an old friend. He genuinely cares about this patients and his community, which is clearly illustrated by his volunteering his services to children in low income school districts in Austin.
